Google to sue porn site
Friday, January 30, 2004 at 15:46 by Rich Kavanagh
Fans of adult based search engine booble.com may not be fans for much longer.

Internet search giant Google are threatening to have booble.com shut down.

booble.com have purposely designed their website to look almost identical to Google's own, right down to the search result layout.

A comment on the bottom of the booble.com search results page reads,

"We know you get it, but in case some people's lawyers don't, this is a parody. Parody: latin [sic] parodia, from the Greek parOidia, a literary or musical work in which the style of an author is closely imitated for comic effect or in ridicule."

However, lawyers for Google, known officially as The Google Trademark Enforcement Team, are claiming constitution of violation of Google's registered trademark.

This case is almost bordering on the lines of the recent Mike Rowe scandal we covered a couple of weeks ago.

In line with the Mike Rowe domain name scandal, Google are demanding the booble.com domain name be handed over to them.

As ever, we'll keep you abreast of the situation.
