The BPI force CDWOW.com to raise their prices
Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 16:43 by Rich Kavanagh
Online music CD retailer CDWow.com have been forced, yes forced, to raise their prices.

The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) accused Hong Kong based CDWow of violating European trade law.

CDWow, famed for their low price CDs, buy their CDs from record companies in different countries at a cheaper price, they then pass this discount onto their UK based (and other countries) customers.

The result, everyone is happy.

Apart from the BPI.

The BPI, have taken great offence a this and threatened to drag the online firm through the European law courts unless they acted fast.

Therefore, as of Monday 26th January 2004, CDWow have no choice but to raise their prices by as much as £2 pounds per album.
