Nintendo takes a dual screen approach
Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 11:43 by Craig Beaumont
Nintendo have announced that they are working on a new portable games console what will feature dual screen gaming.

The handheld named the Nintendo DS will have two 3 inch backlit displays, a lesson learned feedback from the release of the original Gameboy Advance, will be powered by dual ARM-based processors and will include 1Gb of RAM for the developers to play with.

We can probably expect more information in the coming E3 show in May, where hopefully a demo of the new unit will be shown. The release date for the Nintendo DS is expected to be around Christmas this year, which will make it coincide with the release of Sony's PSP handheld.

This is not the first time Nintendo has experimented with dual screen handheld gaming as has been shown with Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong II and Mario Bros.

Although we expect the graphics to be a little better this time round...
