17 year old Mike Rowe from Canada is in a spot of bother.
Back in August 2003, he thought it'd be a good idea to register the domain name, MikeRoweSoft.com for his website design that he does.
However, software giant Microsoft have taken exception to this as they think it could mislead potential visitors to their site.
Microsoft's lawyers contacted Mike Rowe in November, demanding that he hand over the domain name.
Jim Desler, spokesperson for Microsoft said,
"Microsoft has been in communication with Mr. Rowe in a good-faith effort to reach a mutually agreeable resolution. And we remain hopeful we can resolve this issue to everyone's satisfaction."
When Mike Rowe refused to hand over the domain name, the firm offered him cash, albeit $10 dollars, to cover his expenses in buying the domain name.
Mike Rowe then however made a fatal error and in deciding that his site and domain was worth a lot more, wrote back to Microsoft and said he would accept $1,000 dollars.
Big mistake.
By doing this, Mike Rowe has now shown bad faith towards Microsoft. This could go against him in a big way, should this case come to court.
Microsoft responded to his claim for $10,000 by senging him a twenty five page long document listing reasons as to why it would be in his best interests to hand the domain over now.
