New MSN Messenger virus on the loose
Friday, January 02, 2004 at 19:09 by Rich Kavanagh
Users of Microsofts popular instant messaging application MSN Messenger, are under attack from a new virus.

Known as Jitux, this worm type virus is distributed via a web based link.

Unsuspecting users who follow the link are automatically downloading jituxramon.exe, the virus file itself.

The virus appears to have no really bad side effects apart from trying to send itself to everyone in your MSN Messenger contacts list every 5 minutes.

As broadband "always on" connections become more popular these days, a virus distributing itself only via email seems almost old hat.

Please see the instructions for removing worms.

I went to trendmicro.com and ran their free scan that they offer. But it does take some time to run. But I do believe it got rid of it.
