DVD Jon is a free man

The man who earnt the nickname DVD Jon by cracking the CSS encyruption on DVD films has been acquitted.

Judge Wenche Skjeggestad decided at an appeal hearing that Jon Johansen could legally copy DVD films that he had bought or owned and that he was not violating any intellectual property laws.

DVD Jon's lawyer, Halvor Manshaus said,

"The balance between the rights of intellectual property holders and consumers has been clearly defined."
